A Sister of Mount Carmel…a CONTEMPLATIVE IN ACTION.
The Congregation of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a community whose prophetic call moves the sisters to be in active ministries that help bring about a more peaceful, just and loving world. They are nourished by Eucharist, contemplative prayer, community and a devotion to Mary, a woman of simplicity and faith.
On an ordinary day… you will find a Mount Carmel sister in a school or perhaps helping staff a retreat for women prisoners, for you see, she is an educator or a pastoral minister. You may see her involved in health care as a nurse or medical technologist or praying with patients. You might witness her conducting retreats, offering spiritual direction, or advocating for God’s people at the United Nations. She accompanies others in the spiritual journey. She is a Sister of Our Lady…an ambassador of Jesus Christ… a Woman of the Church.
