May 1, 2014, the Sisters of Mount Carmel, Philippine Region, rejoiced in thanking our loving God for the gift of a religious vocation to three of their young sisters. Sister Juliet Navarrete Naga, O. Carm. and Sister Elsie Cagatin Villason, O. Carm., pronounced First Vows. Sister Elma Alminaza Calajatan, O. Carm. pronounced Perpetual Vows. The occasion was honored by the presence of the sister’s families, relatives, friends, benefactors and the people they worked with in their various ministries. Archbishop Rolando Joven Tria Tirona, OCD. Archbishop of Caceres, Naga City, Philippines, presided at the said occasion together with Archbishop Julito Cortez, DD., Archbishop of Dumaguete City, other priests from the Diocese of Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, Philippines and from the Diocese of Kabankalan, Negros Occidental, Philippines.
Sister Elsie Cagatin Villason, O. Carm. was born on January 1, 1989 to Mr. Eugenio Lasaca Villason and Mrs. Lilia Dilado Villason from Barangay Siocon, Compostela, Compostela Valley, Philippines. Sister Elsie received her Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business before joining the Sisters of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. She entered on June 12, 2011 and was officially accepted into Postulancy on July 17, 2011. She became a Novice on May 31, 2012 and had her novitiate at the Sisters of Mount Carmel Formation House in Balugo, Dumaguete City.
Sister Juliet Navarrete Naga, O. Carm. was born on July 21, 1977 to Mr. Pablo Borja Naga, Jr. (deceased) and to Mrs. Ofelia Cojuangco Navarrete and is the third child among the four siblings. Sister Juliet is from Catbalogan, Samar, Leyte, Philippines. She finished her degree with a Bachelor of Arts Major in Economics and had worked for a good number of years before joining the Sisters of Mount Carmel. She entered on June 19, 2011 and was accepted to Postulancy on July 17, 2011, and in May 31, 2012 she was accepted into the Novitiate. She spent her initial formation years prior to her first profession at the Sisters of Mount Carmel Formation House in Balugo, Dumaguete City, Philippines.
Sister Elma Alminaza Calajatan, O. Carm., is the youngest among the three siblings of Mr. Dominiciano Campano Calajatan and Mrs. Adelina Alminaza Calajatan. She was born on June 13, 1987. On May 16, 2006 she began her Postulancy and was accepted to the Novitiate on May 31, 2007. She pronounced First Profession on November 2, 2008. Sister Elma served in the different ministries of the Sisters of Mount Carmel as Vocation Animator, Pastoral Care, and Finance Officer at the Sisters of Mount Carmel Catholic School in Fairview, Quezon City, Philippines prior to her Perpetual Profession.
